Emuna for the End of Days
Emuna, which means faith in Hebrew, is knowing. You don't just believe, you know! I have three children
and I can tell you when they were kids, I KNEW exactly how they were going to react to something.
Because I didn't just believe they would react, I knew it and I knew how they would react!
Yet, we are human and we have challenges, concerns, trials, and decisions to make. Life isn't so
simple. Sometimes things can be devastating and out of our control. We turn to HaShem for answers
and sometimes we may feel or think that He isn't there at all of us. He sometimes can seem to be so
distant.
That's not HaShem, it's us. We think things should be a certain way and when they are not, sometimes
we may feel hurt, betrayed, puzzled, and just plain indifferent.
HaShem is always here with us, even through those extremely difficult times.
But, what about the End of Days? From what I understand, it's not going to be very pleasant for most of
us. Barely hanging on to our emuna is not exactly what we want. We want to be full to the brim with
emuna! We want to be able to not just squeak by, but really be sensitive to His presence and His council
through the darkest of times.
I have watched to many Rabbi Mendel Kessin's videos and he explained briefly about how the end of
days would be like.
He explained it like this (although I may not explain it as well): the times are like this, like a room that
has a window and it is opened but then it slowly closes and the light diminishes in the room. The end of
days is like that window being shut with only a sliver of light shining through into the room.
But, the window doesn't close completely.
So, in the end of days, there will be less truth, less kindness, less lawfulness, less of the light.
But, don't fret! Because there is that sliver of light! That sliver of light is you and me! We have in us
light! We must always remember this! Though there may be hundreds around us with very little light,
we have lots of light! The trials, the challenges, the things that don't go the way we think they should,
this is where we must always look at who we are, who HaShem is and look at His Divine Plan for
each of us and for the world! Things may look truly bad...even completely chaotic! But, we know,
we KNOW who our Creator is! We are His! He is our King!
Meditation and be mindful all day, every day of our G-d and that He is there in our life!
Keep the positive things close and surround yourself with positive Torah teachings/instructions.
Take some "me" time. Take a nature walk and spend time with HaShem.
Talk to G-d.
