The Children of Noah
Who exactly should follow the 7 laws of Noah? Are they meant only for Jews to follow? Do gentiles
observe them, too? Where did these laws come from?
As I mentioned in an earlier post, we have to pause and think about how Adam and Eve knew about
what was acceptable to God and what was not. They knew that murder was wrong and so did Cain
when he killed his brother Abel. Things radically changed when they ate from the Tree of
Good and Evil. This world changed at that very instant and all human souls that come to this
"reality" must try to repair what went wrong. This is called tikkun, to repair. We begin by repairing
ourselves. Whatever needs adjusting in ourselves like an angry temper, jealousy, and so forth. We also
repair the world by giving charity and in how we treat each other. We become active in helping others.
The 7 Laws of Noah are to be observed by everyone, Jew and Gentile. These laws were given to
humans during the time of Noah and to his children and to all of us. Remember, this is way before the
Jews (Israelites) accepting the 613 laws and Oral Laws at Mt. Sinai.
Christians have these laws (some of them) mentioned in their Bible, the New Testament.
When the Apostles and Paul were debating what to do with gentiles, if males should be circumcised or
not, it was decided among them that gentiles need not to be circumcised but taught the laws of
Noah! Acts 15: 20-21, lists four of the 7 laws of Noah. It is also mentioned that the gentiles are not
required to observe the laws of the Jews, the Ten Commandments. However, as we discover, the Laws
of Noah are indeed a bit more complex then we think. For instance, what about honoring one's
parents? Or do not steal? Or set up courts? In depth study of the 7 laws is commendable. Observe the
7 Laws of Noah and if one desires, study these laws deeper.

Disclaimer: I am NOT a Rabbi. I try very hard to post facts and even add links so
people can look these things up for themselves. If you have questions, you may
certainly ask me and I will try to answer. But, if I do not have an answer for your
question, please ask a Rabbi who is knowledgeable in the Noahide Laws. Thank you.
