Body & Soul Health

We all understand that our bodies need to be looked after with what we put into it.

The food we eat, the fluids we drink, and exercise. God gave us these wonderful

"machines" to take care of and what do we do? Well, I must admit, I am guilty of not

giving my body quality care like I should! Oh, that piece of cake or those cookies!

The Coronavirus 2019 (SARS COV2) hasn't been a big help, that's for sure! It kind of

threw us through a loop and caused a lot of us to gain weight because we were in lockdown

for a long time. Many of us need to let go of the junk food and get back to feeding our

bodies good nutrition, especially these days with the virus still lurking. Fruits, vegetables,

meat (if you eat meat), beans/lentils, some carbohydrates, and of course keep it light on

sugars and salt.

But, how about our soul? Do we need soul health guidance? As we say in the upper

Midwest,

"you betcha"!  Most of us do our daily activities whether it be working, chores, studies,

excessive body training, or whatever it is we do...we need our soul, our consciousness, our

spirit to connect with God and to be in tune with what He has for us or wants for us to do.

Three absolutely great ways to connect with our Creator is via prayer, Torah studies, and

meditation. Recognizing God first thing in the morning and thanking Him for His gift of

life is part of starting the day on a positive note. Getting into a routine of prayer soon after

adds to a positive awareness of who you are and what you can do for God.

Everybody has their own way to go about their day but don't forget God later on in the day.

Stop for a moment, perhaps at lunch time. Thank Him for the food that you eat and spend

those moments with Him. When in traffic at a stop light and while you wait for the light to

turn green, reflect what you have been doing, how you have been treating others, and

acknowledge God. Then later in the day, when you have time to relax, talk to God.

He loves to hear from you!

Torah, the first 5 Books of Moses in the Tenakh (Bible). For Jewish folks, the Torah is

something that is studied...ought to be. But, how about Noahides? Remember,

Noahides are people who recognize and obey the 7 Laws of Noah. Noahides that are

gentiles do have the opportunity to go more in depth into the Laws of Noah and even

Torah parts that are meant for Noahides.  Please find a Jewish Rabbi that is

knowledgeable of the 7 Laws of Noah, etc.

One connects to God through His Truth, the Torah.

Meditation is another way. Don't shy away from this subject. There is a lot that is beneficial

with

meditation. Meditation can be for the purpose of calming, for relaxation, but it can also be

used for improving intuition. Tuning into God's direction for you is kind of like tuning

in to a channel on a radio. This doesn't mean predicting the future like for betting on

a horse race! That surely is not the goal! The goal is to tap into His direction for you, His

guidance. To learn how to stay in closer touch, more sensitive to Him. Not necessarily to

feel Him, although sometimes we seem to be able to, but to plainly understand what He

wants for us to do in certain aspects and to know Him...better.

All three of these genres help us to learn, to grow, and to connect to HaShem (God).
